I got excited the other day when I saw this post over on the Lily Bee blog. I mean, punches and Lily Bee? It couldn't get much better in my book! Those are two of my very favorite scrappy things!
So today, after we studied Monet and the kids made "impressionist" paintings in Classical Conversations I wanted to come home and play with color too!
I started with my yellow cardstock and used a large paint brush to brush water over it. Then I cut out some banners with my Silhouette to use as masks. I used both the positive and negative space and misted with some Passion Red and Midnight Blue Glimmer Mists. Because my paper was wet though the mists ended up bleeding a little big and looking a bit softer than they normally do. That's what I was going for. ;)
and of course I had to use punches (because that's what the challenge was...not because I'm totally addicted rather fond of them.) I pulled out my Stampin' Up Scalloped border punch and made some random strips and layers with it.
The Hello Sunshine line (which I'm almost out of!) was the perfect compliment to these pictures of Kessa from last summer in my first "Fall Flair" dress. She loves this Robots dress and still wears it several times a week. Makes me happy that she likes the clothes I make her!
So many exciting things have happened in the past few days I'm not sure what to share! lol. Well...one I can't share quite yet...you'll have to wait a few more days for that one. ;)
Tomorrow is my "Golden Birthday" so the sweet hubby took me out for dinner and then surprised me with a trip to Best Buy. He let me pick out a new printer (for my photos!!) for my birthday...and let me tell you what, I printed some pictures today and it is SAAA-WEET!!!!!!! I love it!
Then today we were supposed to go have pizza with friends for dinner...but when we got there turns out my SIL had planned a surprise party!! (I was just glad I wasn't wearing my fuzzy pants and old sweatshirt! lol)
And last but not least...I had almost forgotten about this because I think I mailed off the LOs almost a year ago, but this book is now available for pre-order on amazon...and I have two pages in it!!!! (sadly neither of them are included in the amazon preview so I'll just have to wait till I actually get the book! lol)
So I think that's all for me for today. I've had fun working on some videos and tutorials in the past few days so be watching for those too!
I have a weakness for Hambly Designs...especially transparencies...and if those transparencies happen to have some woodgrain going on...I'm in heaven! That said, when I saw these pictures of Kessa modeling a skirt for me in a tree I knew they'd be perfect with the Hambly I'd been hoarding.
I added a few pops of Sassafras boarders, some fussy cut images and, of course, doodling.
For the finishing touch I used some Diamond Glaze on parts of some of the fussy cut flowers.
We had a fun little sketch to use for the newsletter this month and this is the LO I made from it.
My Thickers weren't quite the right color to match the rest of the LO (they were a lighter pink) so I just used some glimmer mist to tint them and make them match and then added some doodled outlines.
This totally fabulous Chandelier Garland is by Magnolia, which happens to be one of the Featured Manufactures at AWDML this month...which means everything is 25% off! Be sure to check out all the Magnolia and Imaginisce products that are on sale this month.
AND, if you stick around, later today (or possibly sometime tomorrow) I'll have a video of something from Imaginisce you just might want to scoop up while it's 25%! ;)
I still need to add some more pictures to my clipboards...but my printer seems to be on the fritz! Grrr...
I had an extra heart that I needed up not using on the banner so I added it to the corner of the center clipboard along with a few flowers and a ticket and I had the "love" vinyl leftover from a sign I made using the negative space as a stencil.
And *hopefully* tomorrow I'll have some new throw pillows on the bed to show you too! :)
I shared a while back that I've been asked to be the tutorial member of the design team at A Walk Down Memory Lane and now I'm excited to share my first video tutorial with you!
A lot is probably just a review or reminder for some of you, it's mainly basic tips and techniques for misting, but I hope you enjoy!
